Definition: TPU is a linear block copolymer made from diisocyanate containing NCO functional group and polyether containing OH functional group, polyester polyol and chain extender, which are extruded and blended.
Characteristics: TPU integrates the characteristics of rubber and plastic, with high elasticity, high strength, high wear resistance, oil resistance, water resistance, low temperature resistance, aging resistance and other advantages.

According to the structure of the soft segment, it can be divided into polyester type, polyether type and butadiene type, which contain ester group, ether group or butene group respectively. Polyester TPU has good mechanical strength, wear resistance and oil resistance. Polyether TPU has better hydrolysis resistance, low temperature resistance and flexibility.
According to the hard segment structure, it can be divided into aminoester type and aminoester urea type, which are obtained from diol chain extender or diamine chain extender, respectively.
According to whether there is crosslinking: can be divided into pure thermoplastic and semi-thermoplastic. The former is a pure linear structure without crosslinking. The latter is a crosslinked bond containing a small amount of urea formates.
According to the use of finished products, it can be divided into special-shaped parts (various mechanical parts), pipes (jackets, rod profiles) and films (sheets, sheets), as well as adhesives, coatings and fibers.
Production technology
Bulk polymerization: can also be divided into pre-polymerization method and one-step method according to whether there is a pre-reaction. The prepolymerization method is to react diisocyanate with macromolecule diol for a certain time before adding chain extender to produce TPU. One step method is to mix macromolecular diol, diisocyanate and chain extender at the same time to produce TPU.
Solution polymerization: the diisocyanate is first dissolved in the solvent, and then the macromolecule diol is added to react for a certain time, and finally the chain extender is added to produce TPU.
Application field
Shoe material field: Because TPU has excellent elasticity and wear resistance, it can improve the comfort and durability of shoes, and is often used in the sole, upper decoration, air bag, air cushion and other parts of sports shoes and casual shoes.
Medical field: TPU has excellent biocompatibility, non-toxic, non-allergic reaction and other characteristics, can be used to manufacture medical catheters, medical bags, artificial organs, fitness equipment and so on.
Automotive field: TPU can be used to manufacture car seat materials, instrument panels, steering wheel covers, seals, oil hose, etc., to meet the requirements of comfort, wear resistance and weather resistance of automotive interior, as well as the requirements of oil resistance and high temperature resistance of automotive engine compartment.
Electronic and electrical fields: TPU has good wear resistance, scratch resistance and flexibility, and can be used to manufacture wire and cable sheath, mobile phone case, tablet computer protective cover, keyboard film and so on.
Industrial field: TPU can be used to manufacture a variety of mechanical parts, conveyor belts, seals, pipes, sheets, etc., can withstand greater pressure and friction, while having good corrosion resistance and weather resistance.
